Be aware that the location is at 15 minutes by car from downtown, you need to have a car to get there, it's an unpaved road with a lot of portholes. The hotel is literally in front of the beach and you sleep every night with the sound of the waves. It is important to note that even though you have a kitchen, you have nothing complimentary to prepare food (not even salt), just tableware (forks, knifes, glasses, a coffee maker, etc). The beach is dirty with a lot of trash such as plastics bottles. When we asked the host to lend us some tools to clean ourselves the beach she did not let us and said she would clean it, she made it seem to clean a little, but as you can see in the pictures there was nothing done. (A plastic bottle of oil lasted 2 days straight) The beach is practically for your own as there is no other hotels near. You can rent a kayac for 3 hours at only 7 usd or 150 MXN total. Amazing experience swimming with fish and seeing them on the corals. This is definitely a place to disconnect from day to day stress. More cleaning on the beach would be good.

This is not your average all inclusive resort. This is off grid, and natural. The bedrooms are big, roomy with big windows through which ocean breeze flows in. The rooms are literally right on the water, and the beach is warm. There is a beautiful pool area as well that my kids played in. The road into Mahahual is bumpy, but completely worth it. It takes about 15 minutes to get to the main touristy area. The advantage of being away from town is that you have a quiet, unplugged experience, with incredible night sky. The beach area has comfortable beach chairs and loungers with string lights for dinner on the beach. We also saw incredible sunrise both mornings. The owners live at the property and are super friendly and helpful. Highly recommend Margarita del sol in Mahahual.
